2016-2017 Season

President’s Message

To all our members thank you for being a part of the Greater Charlotte USBCA.

Myself and the board is here to support you in any way we can.  We are all looking forward to a great 2016-2017 year!

First I want to welcome Cheryl Paxton to the board and Kalia Patterson for returning to the board.  We are happy to have both ladies join us!

I also want to welcome our new center Fox’s Alley and the owners Mr. & Mrs. Mark Fox to our Association.  I know we will see more of the bowlers from Monroe returning to our tournaments.  Welcome back brothers and sisters in bowling!

I’ve heard a lot of talk about the awards program we have.  We started this program to encourage our members to support our local events.  I’ve heard it’s only a piece of paper!  It’s not just a piece of paper, it’s money that you can save when you bowl in one of our tournaments. You get 50 points when you join a league, you get another 50 points when you become a member.  That’s $5.00 already.  Then you get points for a number of other scores you bowl.  If you have not heard about the awards program, ask you league secretary as she/he was given a packet with all this information in it at the Secretaries workshop held on August 7, 2016.  For example, last year most of the bowlers in the Doubles Tournament had to pay nothing or very little to bowl in that tournament.  With each member paying only $6.00 to the Greater Charlotte Association that does not leave to much for the kind of awards people have told me they would like to have.  We’ve given items before and they would just leave them in the centers.  We are working hard on the awards program and will try to do something different next year.  I know we can’t and will never be able to please everyone but we have tried before and will try again.

We need our members to support our/their association by participating in our tournaments and other special events and let us know what they are thinking. We hope to have at least two coaching clinics this year.  There are so many things USBC expects us to do to stay in compliance and one of those things is to increase our tournaments.  For that we need your help!

We are also looking for men and women to serve on the Board of Directors.  Our Youth tournaments will be starting soon so let’s get out and support our youth.  We have the Memories for The Cure coming up on February 25, 2017 with the Bowl for The Cure being held on February 26, 2017.  Please mark your calendars to support both of these events.  It’s all for a great cause.

I wish all of you the best year yet in bowling!  I want all of us to support and promote the sport we all love.
